What is Ayurvedic

Ayuveda is a system of medicine that originated in India thousands of years ago. The word ‘Ayurveda’ is made up of two Sanskrit words ‘Ayus’ that means ‘life and ‘veda’ that means ‘science or ‘knowledge’.

Ayurveda is more than just a medical system. It is the knowledge (Science) of life and life is composed of mind, body, spirit & soul. Apart from being a healing system it also provides guidance regarding our diets and our lifestyles that helps in keeping us healthy and in balance in our every day lives.


What is the difference between Ayurvedic Massage and other types of massages?

  1. the uniqueness of a persons individual constitution
  2. different herbal oils are used depending on each persons constitution and imbalance
  3. traditional techniques are used including tapping, rubbing, squeezing and kneading
  4. Marma points – particular attention is paid to special healing points on the body


Initial consultation

You will have an initial consultation before your first massage where Marie-Emma will discuss any relevant health problems you are experiencing, giving advice on your diet & lifestyle. Marie-Emma will inform you about your particular body type and any imbalance you are experiencing.
